The Energy & Infrastructure Finance (E&IF) team is responsible for executing Investec's strategy for E&IF clients in the UK and Europe. E&IF provides innovative funding solutions in the Debt Financing and Advisory space. This role is integral to the team's success and offers exciting opportunities for individual development in a sector that is central to delivering Investec's Sustainability goals. Key Responsibilities: Support Execution of Credit Approval Process: Undertake transaction due diligence and write/draft credit papers. Analyse financial models (including model build for certain mandated deals) and run sensitivity analysis on cash flows. Work with senior team members and internal legal to draft and review mandate letters/term sheets. Submit credit papers and coordinate credit committees with the Credit department. Prepare deal ratings, analyse deal economics, and run return calculations. Work with syndication colleagues in preparing materials and answering Q&A where required for sell-down. Support Execution of Financial Advisory Mandates: Build comprehensive financial models based on discussions with company management, sponsors, and due diligence advisors. Explain the model assumptions, logic, and outputs to clients, and work through the model review/audit process. Prepare marketing materials (Teasers, Information Memoranda). Assist in deal execution activities, including working with external advisers (such as technical, market, insurance, and model audit advisers) in preparing materials and throughout the Q&A process. Assist Senior Team Members in Marketing and Origination Efforts: Provide deal structuring solutions and engage with clients/advisors. Create and draft pitch books and other relevant materials for discussion with senior team members and internal/external stakeholders. Manage a Portfolio of Assets: Manage ongoing relationships with borrowers and internal/external stakeholders. Conduct ongoing reviews of financial/other information to ensure that cash flow is received in line with financial close expectations. Prepare annual reviews, amendments, and waiver requests for portfolio assets. Core Skills and Knowledge Understanding of financial analysis, valuation, and modelling techniques. Financial modelling capabilities will be viewed favourably, particularly the ability to build a comprehensive financial model from scratch (with appropriate supervision). Commercial awareness, including an appreciation of key risks, mitigants, and structuring approaches relevant to Energy & Infrastructure in the UK and Europe. Relevant market, sector, or technical knowledge for the Energy & Infrastructure sector. Creative problem-solving skills in providing flexible and innovative financing structures. Self-motivated team player with a collaborative approach. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Regulatory knowledge as applicable to the role. Required to act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly. IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Additional Attributes The ideal candidate will have transaction experience (ideally from a debt financing angle) in the Energy and Infrastructure sector, preferably gained in a relevant financing and/or advisory team within a bank, fund, sponsor, or advisory firm.
