Senior Data Analyst - Data & Analytics (12730)

Role Purpose
We are seeking a Technical Business Analyst to lead the **scoping, documentation, ** and ** ** **provide inputs for ** design of data, reporting, AI, automation and analytics solutions. The role bridges business strategy and execution, helping to move the business from legacy solutions and processes to scalable, governed and automated solutions built on Microsoft technologies. The role will involve working with senior leaders from across our business to understand current technical solutions or manual processes, pain points, potential efficiencies, opportunities and requirements which will help inform future solutions. As a part of this role, we want the Technical Business Analyst to be instrumental in helping to define, drive and to deliver solutions that will help drive operational efficiency, improved decision making, deliver measurable and help support strategic business / operational objectives.
As a part of this role, we will need the Technical Business Analyst to be “hands-on”, in understanding legacy solutions and processes (e.g. reports, dashboards and data flows) that have been built and how these can be brought in-line and modernised with our current technical standards, technologies and processes. We will need proven ability to help reverse engineer existing solutions, understand data sources, data sets & transformations and ability to interpret and mapdata models. Working together with the business, they will need to document and validate functional and technical requirements, where they will then help to design the future-state solution and to quantify value. Collaborating with technical teams, engineers, BI analysts and stakeholders, they will help to build a plan to deliver updated solutions back to the business. We expect the Analyst to help pull together a holistic view of the current end-to-end solution and a roadmap for modernisation.
The role requires a proactive mindset, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. The Analyst will work cross-functionally with data engineers, BI developers, and business stakeholders to deliver robust, scalable solutions that drive operational efficiency, support strategic business objectives and improve decision making. We will need experience with Microsoft Data & Analytics technologies including but not limited to Power BI, Azure Data Lake, Azure SQL and Databricks. They will need strong communication and ability to interact with senior stakeholders. Our expectation is that the Technical Business Analyst helps stays current with evolving data technologies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Stakeholder Management
Act as a bridge between business stakeholders (executives, finance, risk, operations) and technical teams.
Communicate progress, risks, and design decisions clearly and confidently.
Facilitate workshops, design sessions, and UAT with business and technology teams.
Discovery and Analysis
Conduct detailed reviews of the existing technical solutions (e.g. Power BI Reports & Dashboards, SSIS data integrations) and underlying flat-file and SQL DB data sources.
Document current-state architecture, data flows, dependencies, and pain points.
Identify and validate core business metrics, KPIs, and data definitions.
Collaborate with executives and data owners to clarify reporting needs, data gaps, and decision-use cases.
Requirements Gathering and Documentation
Develop comprehensive business and functional requirement documents (BRDs/FRDs).
Capture and translate executive-level needs into technical specifications for the engineering and BI teams.
Maintain traceability between business outcomes, KPIs, and data sources.
Ensure requirements align with enterprise data governance and security standards.
Ensure alignment with the organisation's data mesh and data governance principles.
**Governance and Quality - **
Support definition and tracking of data quality rules and validation checks.
Required Skills and Experience
8-12 years of experience as a Business Analyst or Technical BA within financial services or banking.
Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, dimensional modelling methodologies such as Kimball and BI / analytics workflows.
Proven experience in Azure Data Platform technologies:
Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure Data Lake, SQL.
Familiarity with Agile delivery and data governance frameworks.
Experience developing or supporting executive-level reporting or dashboards.
Strong documentation skills (process flows, data dictionaries, system mapping).
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills – including regular interaction with at C-suite stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
Experience working in data mesh architectures.
Ability to translate business requirements into data and technical design artifacts.
Exposure to data lineage / metadata management tools (e.g., Purview).
Understanding of KPIs in financial services / capital markets (e.g., balance sheet metrics, profitability, risk indicators).
Experience in solutioning and planning for Power BI enterprise implementations.

Business and functional requirements pack.
Inputs to Technical implementation plan with dependencies and sequencing.
Handover to delivery / engineering teams with clear success metrics & adoption criteria
