Thursday
Weather
A day of mixed cloud and sunshine, with the cloud being more concentrated in the firstg half and the sunshine in the second. The air will be cool though, brought to us by a force 3-4 N’ly breeze, only taking the temperatures marginally higher than Wednesday, so we are probably only just going to touch 20°C. To make the best of it, head to one of the south-coast beaches, or possibly to one of the northern corners of a west-coast beach, such as Grande Rocque for Cobo, or Fort Hommet for Vazon. Cool overnight too, with a min temp of just 12-13°C.
Surf and the Water
Just the slim chance of a surfable knee to waist high wave at sunset, otherwise it’s going to be another flat surf day. Swimming conditions will be lovely along the south coast though.Tides will be high at 6:05pm and 6:25pm (7.9m and 7.4m respectively). Low water will be at 12:25pm.
Friday
Weather
A super-sunny day, much less cloud than any others this week. A beautiful absence of wind too, just the faintest breath of a force 1-2 NW’ly. This will lead a to day that doesn’t achieve a particularly high number, only 21°C, but feels very pleasant and warm. All coasts just as lovely as eachother. Chrystal clear visibility in all directions. Notably chilly overnight again, with another min of 12-13°C.
Surf and the Water
Hooray for the surfers, as the ocean is rocked by a pulse of waist-high waves. Obviously not huge but very rideable, and beautifully clean too. Options will be a little pinched by the tides, but hey ho… highs will be at 6:55am and 7:10pm (8.3m and 8.8m respectively). Swimming and paddle-boarding conditions will be gorgeous all round.
The Weekend
Weather
Saturday will be pretty much the same as Friday, same abundance of sunshine and absence of wind, leading to a max of 21°C. The night won’t be quite so cool though, as a force 3-4 E’ly breeze will become established. Through Sunday, this wind will strengthen to force 4-5, but it will be bringing much warmer air than the previous days so, with plenty of sunshine again, we will probably see a max of 23°C. The warmest area being the southwest of the Island, between the airport and L’Eree.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be beautifully clean both days, probably be waist-high on Saturday, then just knee-high on Sunday. Swimming conditions will be good all around the Island on Saturday, but notably better on north and west coasts on Sunday. High tides wil be at breakfast time and towards dusk (increasing incrementally from 8.9m to 9.4m). Low tides will be in the early afternoons.
Next Week
Weather
Monday, with a moderate NE’ly wind, might be a degree cooler than Sunday, but it will be just as Sunny, perhaps even more so. Tuesday will lose the wind and the sunshine will start to mix with occasional cloud, but that will probably balance out with a repeated max of 22°C. The rest of the week probably won’t be any cooler, due to the airflow being mostly SSE’ly but it will be increasingly unsettled, due to the nearby presecnce of ex-hurrican Erin. Lots of wind and rain for Britain, not so much for us, but still a fair number of blustery downpours, quite possibly with thunder and lightning. The details will become clearer once we get past this weekend.
Surf and the Water
The surf will is looking potentially incredible (courtesy of ex-hurricane Erin… knee-high Monday, picking up to shoulder high through Tuesday and then well overhead on Wednesday and (for August) incredibly large and powerful on Thursday. Furthermore, although it’s uncertain, the wind will most likely make for beautifully clean conditions throughout. Swimmers will find the west coast to be lovely on Monday, but by Wednesday, it would be wise to keep it strictly east, to avoid the strong surges and currents associated with the large swell. Tides will be high in the mornings and low in the afternoons. Big tides initially… over 9m in the first half of the week, then decreasing to about 8.5m on Thursday and 8m on Friday.
The next forecast update will most likely be on Saturday morning…
