Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 16 April 2025

Thursday

Weather

A beautiful day of windless sunshine, as we are caught in the doldrums day between that vicious weather system of Tuesday night and the next (not quite so) windy one on Friday. All coasts will be lovely, so just pick your favourite spot and make the most of the 15°C max. The evening will be lovely for barbecues etc, but the temperature will drop relatively rapidly under clear skies, reaching the 8°C minimum by around 10pm.

Surf and the Water

Super clean 2 foot surf on the west coast, but with very little power and also a medium-large tide to work around. High water will be about 8.2m at 9:40am and 8:30pm. Low water will be at 3:50pm. Swimmers will find beautifully smooth water all around the Island.

Good Friday

Weather

A rather wet and windy day, all day long… the rain tending to be showery (occasionally more prolonged) but the wind will be very consistent, blowing as a force 5 SSE’ly from mid-morning until dusk. Temperatures will hold steady around 10-12°C throughout, but it will feel as though it’s a few degrees cooler than that, especially in contrast to the previous day.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be pretty close to flat. Maybe the odd 1-2 foot wave, which would be clean yes, but decidedly unattractive under those leaden skies and fresh winds. Windsurfing and kitesurfing will really be the order of the day. Tides will be 7.8m high at 10:10am, then low at 4:20pm.

Easter Weekend

Weather

Saturday morning looks calm enough but the late afternoon and evening now look quite a lot windier than previously expected, with a fresh force 5 NE’ly developing. There could be one or two heavy showers through the day, but far briefer and fewer than on Friday. Sunday will then reverse the wind story… pretty perky in the morning but nice and light by late afternoon. That day should definitely be the driest and sunniest too. As for Bank Holiday Monday, well that looks like your classic day of sunshine and showers, with force 3-4 WSW’ly winds. The maxima for each day should be about 15°C, 14°C and 14°C respectively.

Surf and the Water

The surf should be semi-clean early Saturday, late Sunday and at times through Monday. Otherwise, it’s looking pretty choppy and the waves will be a bit dribbly anyway… only 1-3 feet. Tides will be 7.4m high at 10:40am Saturday, 6.9m at 11:30am Sunday, then 6.6m at 12:45pm Monday.

Next Week

Weather

Light force 2-3 winds most days, from a variety of directions. Some days may perk up to moderate force 4 for a brief time, but certainly no dramatic moments, like those of the previous week. Weather-wise, there will be a few showery moments, but the vast majority of the time should be dry, and most days should include a decent portion of sunshine. Max temps remaining close to average (only marginally above) generally between 12 and 15°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf looks promising… most days 3 feet or bigger, with winds from a variety of directions but usually light enough to keep things clean. Tides will be low in the mornings and high in the afternoons, increasing from 6.6m on Tuesday to 8.5m on Friday.

The next forecast update will be on Saturday…
