Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 14 October 2026

Thursday

Weather

Not quite as sunny as Wednesday was, but just as warm, in fact probably a degree warmer, with the force 3-4 SSW’ly breeze taking us up to about 19°C. The slim chance of some showers in the evening, and then a proper spell of rain arriving towards the end of the night.

Surf and the Water

Clean 3-4 foot surf, gradually increasing to 5-6 feet. Swimming conditions will be lovely on all coasts except perhaps the south. High water will be 8.5m at 9:40am. Low water will be at 4pm.

Friday

Weather

Thursday night’s rain may still be with us around dawn, but it will clear off by the time that most people are doing the school-run, so come on kids, no excuse to not be walking or cycling. Rather blowy and chilly though, with a fresh force 5 NNW’ly wind in the morning, only just relaxing to moderate force 4 in the afternoon. Thus, despite increasingly sunny weather, the temperature will only muster a miserly max of 15-16°C.

Surf and the Water

Very choppy west-coast surf, but likely some rideable (and super-clean) waves on the south coast, if you know where and when to inspect. Windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions will be pretty decent in the morning, especially up at L’Ancresse. As for swimming, definitely a south-coast day for that. High water will be 8m at 10:10am. Low water will be at 4:30pm.

The Weekend

Weather

Brrrrr… Fresh to strong NNE’ly winds will bring a very chilly feeling both days, at least with a solid dose of sunshine on Saturday, but I’m afraid to say with cloudy skies and frequent showers on Sunday. The temperature, likely peaking at a miserly 14-15°C on Saturday and then only 13-14°C on Sunday.

Surf and the Water

The kind of wind that may generate a choppy wave at Pembroke, or a clean wave on the south coast. Hard to pick which would offer the most fun for surfing, but to be honest, neither of them would be particularly special. Swimming conditions will only really be worth thinking about on the south coast, mainly around high tide, when the cliffs offer the most protection. Obviously, both days great for windsurfing and kitesurfing though. High tides will be 7.4m at 10:40am Saturday, then 6.9m at 11:20am Sunday. Low tides will be around 5pm and 5:45pm respectively.

Next Week

Weather

A generally unsettled week, with showers or longer spells of rain expected most days. There will be some sunshine though, possibly some quite lengthy periods in the second half of the week, and the temperature trend will be on the upward. Monday’s wind being a fresh E’ly that will be pretty much as chilly as the weekend, Tuesday a moderate SE’ly, likely taking us up to a more respectable 15-16°C, then Wednesday onward climbing to 17 or 18°C, thanks to a gentle S’ly or SW’ly.

Surf and the Water

Mostly clean surf, with winds initially being quite strong and from the east or southeast, then being quite light and from the south or southwest. Unfortunately however, the waves will rarely be much bigger than one foot. Only Monday, at the moment, offering anything solid… a long period swell that will stand about shoulder to head high on the reefs but offer nothing but small closeouts on the beaches. Tuesday promises a more user-friendly 1-3 feet on the beaches, but the rest of the week looks as though it will seriously struggle. Low tides will be in the mornings, high tides in the afternoons, gradually increasing from 6.5m Monday to 8.2m Friday.

The next forecast update will be on Friday night…
