Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 01 October 2026

Thursday

Weather

After the passing of some early morning showers, we should see lots and lots of sunshine, but the air will be a bit cooler than the previous two days, so we will probably only just hit the 20°C mark in Town. It will feel generally nice and comfortable though, because the WSW’ly breeze will only be light force 3. Relatively chilly overnight, with starry skies allowing the temperature to fall to 12 or 13°C.

Surf and the Water

Clean 3-5 foot surf, with only a gentle cross shore breeze. Swimming conditions will be good on all coasts, but especially the east. High water will be 8.7m at 10am. Low water will be at 4:20pm.

Friday

Weather

A slightly warmer day but cooler night. The daytime being simply sunny again, but this time with just a light force 2 S’ly breeze (barely noticeable in any part of the Island). The night time being starry and still, with a min temp of 11 or 12°C.

Surf and the Water

The 2-3 foot surf will be stunningly clean. Swimming conditions absolutely dreamy on all coasts, likewise for kayaking and paddle-boarding. High water will be 8.2m at 10:45am. Low water will be around 5pm.

The Weekend

Weather

Two more super sunny days (especially Saturday… slight chance of some low cloud and mist on Sunday). Temperatures are likely to peak at 21°C and 20°C respectively. And the overnight minima are likely to be around the 12°C mark, so very similar to the previous nights again. Although winds will be very light (only force 2-3), they will come from a N’ly direction on Saturday and a NW’ly on Sunday, meaning that the loveliest places of all will be along the south coast and the east coast respectively.

Surf and the Water

The surf will probably be 2-3 feet on Saturday, reducing to 1-2 feet on Sunday, pretty clean on both days because the cross shore breezes will only be light. The tidal movements now being much smaller than earlier in the week, with highs around midday… roughly 7.5m on Saturday and 7m on Sunday. Excellent swimming conditions both days, especially on the south and west coasts. It’s a wonderful Autumn for feeling the direct touch of water on skin, rather than through the synthetic stinkiness of a wetsuit, so grab what remains of this summer’s warmth while you still can.

Next Week

Weather

A weak of two halves, with Monday and Tuesday (and maybe a small chunk of Wednesday) all being as lovely and sunny as the previous week. All chance then to a cold N’ly wind at some point on Wednesday though, with a period of heavy rain marking the very noticeable transition. Thursday should then be bright and breezy, with only the slim chance of a brief shower or two. Friday about as wet and windy as Wednesday, but this time with the wind coming from the west. Max temps in the low twenties on Monday and Tuesday, then in the mid-teens through the rest of the week.

Surf and the Water

A pretty dreadful week of surf, but we could probably all do with resting our paddle muscles and focussing on some other activities for a little while. Swimming conditions look lovely in the first half of the week, but from Wednesday onward a cold NW’ly wind will force the dedicated bathers to seek shelter on the south and east coasts. Tides will be high in the early afternoon on Monday, progressing to around dusk by Friday, and increasing in size from just 7m on Monday to 9.3m on Friday.

The next forecast update will be on Saturday evening or Sunday morning…
