Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 28 September 2026

Tuesday

Weather

Bright and breezy, with the force 4 SE’ly wind occasionally tickling fresh force 5 as it drags warm air from Southern Europe across the Islands. Skies will be a mix of cloud and hazy sunshine, the latter being most prevalent in the afternoon. Max temps will be 22-23°C, which for the penultimate day of September is nothing to be sniffed at. Min temps very mild too… 17°C as thick cloud and blustery rain spread across the area in the night time.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be lovely and clean, but quite a low smaller than on Monday… generally only 2 feet. Winds should be strong enough for kitesurfers and windsurfers to have a bit of fun though. As for the swimmers… high tide in the morning will be best along the north and west coasts. High water will be 9.3m at 8:55am and at 9:10pm. Low water will be at 3:15pm.

Wednesday

Weather

The overnight rain should have cleared off by breakfast time, but we will be left with a force 4-5 SW’ly wind and the slight threat of a shower. That wind will drop off to light force 3 by the afternoon though, and the partial sunshine will take the temperature to a comfortable max of 21°C to close the month. A little chillier overnight though, with a min of 13-14°C.

Surf and the Water

Cleanish surf, and a little bigger than on Tuesday… 3-4 feet this time. High water will be about 9.1m at 9:30am and then 9m at 9:45pm. Swimming conditions will be best of all on the north coast.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

The most reliably sunny and settled portion of the working week, thanks to a high pressure system wandering up the English Channel from the Mouth to the Strait. This will lead to a light force 2-3 W’ly wind on Thursday and a similarly gentle S’ly on Friday. Those wind directions having a slight effect on the temperatures, with maxima of 20-21°C on the first day, followed by 21-22°C on the second. Starry skies overnight though, leading to expected minima of 12-13°C on the first night and 13-14°C on the second.

Surf and the Water

With a really deep low in the Mid-Atlantic on Tuesday, some proper large and powerful waves will be booming into the rea through Thursday (6-8 feet and especially good on the expert-only reefs). Friday will then be blessed with a more moderate 3-4 feet, which should be super-fun for a far greater swathe of the surfing population. Friday also the cleaner day, by a whisker. Great swimming conditions on the east cost on Thursday, then on all coasts on Friday. High tides in the late mornings (8.7m and 8.6m respectively). Low tides in the late afternoons.

The Weekend

Weather

Increasing NE’ly winds will take the edge off any heat that the partial sunshine would otherwise bestow. The actual max temps around 20-21°C on Saturday and then 19-20°C on Sunday, but the fells-like temps being about 2 degrees lower on Saturday and 3 degrees lower on Sunday (head to the south coast to make th most of any warmth). The nights will be a bit milder than the previous though, with likely minima of around 16°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf will probably be 2-3 feet on Saturday, reducing to 1-2 feet on Sunday, pretty clean on Saturday, a bit messier on Sunday. The tides now smaller and high around midday… roughly 7.5m on Saturday and 7m on Sunday. Excellent swimming conditions too. It’s a wonderful Autumn for feeling the direct touch of water on skin, rather than through the synthetic stinkiness of a wetsuit, so grab what remains of this summer’s warmth while you still can.

The next forecast update will be on Thursday morning…
