Wednesday
Weather
Sunny for the most part, just a few puffs of low cloud in the morning and a few wisps of high cloud in the afternoon. Winds will be force 3 NW’ly, meaning that the south and east coasts will be warmest, especially Town. Max temps 20-21°C. Overnight minimum 14-15°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be slightly choppy but much bigger than the previous day, with solid 3-4 foot waves, perhaps occasionally pulsing 5 feet in the morning. Swimming conditions will be best along the south and east coasts, especially in the afternoon. Tidal movements will be a little bigger than the previous days, with a high of 7.6m expected at 5:30pm (low tide will be at 11:30am).
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Sunny and pretty hot on Thursday, with light force 3 SE’ly winds taking temperatures to about 23°C. Friday may well be the same, but at some point the wind will flip around to a W’ly. If that holds off until evening then the max temp should be just as high, but if it comes around as early as late morning then it will be a bit cooler and more like Wednesday. Either way, it’s all fine and dry, unless perhaps there is a shower or two on Friday night. Min temps around 15-16°C both nights.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be lovely and clean on Thursday… generally 2 feet, but maybe 3 feet in the morning. Friday will start off with very small waves, just 1-2 feet, but then it should crank up to a solid 4-5 feet by evening. Swimming conditions as gorgeous as ever (the water temperature still being somewhere between 18 and 19°C). Tides will be high around dawn and dusk, increasing incrementally from 7.8m on Thursday morning, to 8.8m on Friday evening.
The Weekend
Weather
A couple of cloudier days than all that mid-week sunshine, and probably some rain on Sunday afternoon and evening (perhaps heavy at times). Temperatures should still reach a very respectable 22°C each day though, because there will at least be some brief spells of hazy sunshine. Overnight temps will be on the mild side too, probably falling no lower than 16°C.
Surf and the Water
Some fantastic looking surf (3-4 feet on Saturday, then 2-3 feet on Sunday) to accompany the gentle cross-shore breezes and the big spring tides (high at breakfast time and shortly after dusk… increasing incrementally from 8.9m on Saturday morning to 9.4m on Sunday evening).
Next Week
Weather
A mild but unsettled week, with fresh S’ly winds bringing air from Spain, Portugal and the Azores, complete with enough moisture for some heavy and perhaps thundery downpours from time to time. Day to day differences are not clear at this stage, but that’s a broad outline of the wind and weather. As for the typical max and min temperatures… probably around 21-22°C for the maxima and 16-17°C for the minima.
Surf and the Water
The surf will initially be around 3 feet, but from Wednesday onward it will be around 6 feet. All of it pretty clean and of much higher quality than we have seen for a long time. Big tides will make it tricky to time your sessions though… highs of 9.4m around breakfast time Monday and Tuesday, gradually reducing through the following mornings… 9.2m, 8.8m and 8.3m respectively. Low tides will be in the afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Friday evening …
