Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 12 September 2026

Saturday

Weather

A cloudier morning than afternoon, but not as cloudy as it was on Friday morning, so we can generally call it a sunny day, with a max temp of 20-21°C. The breeze will be a light force 3 WSW’ly, perhaps tickling moderate force 4 from time to time, which is far from strong, but it is noticeable enough for Town, and the east coast in general, to feel as though it’s quite a bit warmer than the west. Overnight, skies will gradually cloud over, leading to an initial cooling in the evening (min temp 15-16°C), followed by a slight warming later in the night, when it might also turn misty and drizzly.

Surf and the Water

Sloppy 2 foot surf in the west, and good swimming conditions in the east (as well as in a few western and northern nooks). Tidal movements will be big, so watch out for strong currents. Low water around 2:30pm and the highs will be roughly 9.5m at 8:15am and 9.8m around 8:30pm.

Sunday

Weather

This is a bit of a tricky one, with a band of rain and drizzle over southern England, computer models have been struggling (on and off) to decide whether that weather will extend southwards enough to spoil the second half of our weekend, or whether it will keep it’s distance and leave us with a Sunday that is only slightly cloudier and windier than Saturday, but just as warm. At the moment, it seems as though the latter will become true, with Guernsey remaining dry, but the force 3-4 WSW’ly breeze brining some low cloud and mist in the morning, and more especially the evening. Air traffic will probably be unaffected, but it would be wise to be on standby for the possibility of some fog.

Surf and the Water

The surf will gradually increase from 2 feet to 3 or perhaps even 4 feet. Swimming conditions will be best in the east again, although large tidal movements will men that one has to be mindful of currents and cutoffs. The times of high water will be roughly 8:50am (9.5m) and 9pm (9.6m). Low water will be around 3:10pm.

Monday

Weather

As with Sunday evening, fog will be possible in the morning, but it’s currently far too uncertain to say for sure. The light force 2-3 SW’ly breeze will be warm and comfortable though, with a sunny afternoon taking the temp further into the twenties. I’m currently going for a max of 23-24°C, but it could be a degree either side of that, depending on the cloud to sunshine ratio.

Surf and the Water

The surf will gradually increase from 2 to 3 feet and clean. Swimming conditions will be great on all coasts, although large tidal movements will mean that one has to be mindful of currents and cutoffs again. The times of high water will be roughly 9:20am (9.3m) and 9:30pm (9.2m). Low water will be around 3:40pm.

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

Monday’s warmth will be blown away on Tuesday, when the wind veers to a force 4-5 NW’ly. It should stay mostly sunny though, after a brief spell of cloud and rain passes in the early or mid-morning. Wednesday to Friday will then continue on a downhill trajectory... in terms of weather if not temperature, with winds being just as perky but from more of a straight W’ly direction, skies being mostly cloudy, and showers or longer spells of rain probably featuring ever day. And in the grander scheme, I can tell you that by Friday, we will only be 4 nights away from the Autumnal Equinox, so days and nights are very nearly an equal 12 hours each, nights are drawing in, and the precious evening light should be exploited to the max.

Surf and the Water

The tides are always the most predictable element, and these will be reducing incrementally from a pretty whopping 9m mid-morning Tuesday, to just 7.3m late morning Friday. Surf-wise, it’s looking as though we will have waves of 2 feet on Tuesday and 3-4 feet thereafter. All of it messy I’m afraid, apart from one or two brief moments when the wind back SW’ly with the approach of a weather front. The prime water-based activities will probably be kitesurfing in the west and swimming in the east.

The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening or Monday morning…
