BH Monday
Weather
A straight west wind all day long, with sunny skies for the most part, but with a few bubbles of cloud to cast a shadow here and there, but probably not give any showers. The air will be inherently cool, since the passing of that thundery cold front on Sunday afternoon. Thus, despite the bright blue sky, temperatures will climb no higher than 20°C in the west and 21°C in the east. Then, overnight, the minimum temperature will be a rather chilly 13°C. The wind being force 5 decreasing to force 4 through the daytime, then force 3-4 decreasing to force 2 in the night time.
Surf and the Water
Messy 4-6 foot surf (slightly cleaner towards dusk). Decent windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions too. Fermain, Havelet and Pembroke will be best for swimming. High water will be around 9:20am and 9:40m (9.1m and 9.2m respectively). Low water will be around 3:40pm.
Tuesday and Wednesday
Weather
Much lighter SW’ly winds on Tuesday (only force 2 to 3), but then picking up to moderate force 4 again on Wednesday. This will make the partial sunshine feel much more pleasant on Tuesday, and not too bad on Wednesday either, even though the temperature will still only peak around 21-22°C each day. The nights won’t be quite as chilly as Monday night was though, with minimum temperatures of roughly 15°C and 16°C respectively. Probably dry throughout.
Surf and the Water
The surf should be 3-4 feet shrinking 2 feet through Tuesday, then remaining that size on Wednesday. All of it a little bit wobbly but reasonably clean because the cross-wind will be pretty light. Much better swimming conditions than over the weekend, but still best of all in the sheltered east. High tides will be mid-morning (8.9m on Tuesday and 8.6m on Wednesday). Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.
Thursday and Friday
Weather
Mostly, but not entirely, cloudy for these two days. That cloud being on the low side, probably not low enough to bring hill fog, but maybe low enough for some patchy drizzle at times… slightly more likely on Friday than on Thursday. This weather is typical of relatively warm, but also moist, air from the south west. Thus we will probably peak at 22-23°C on these two days, even though there will be so little sunshine. Overnight temperatures will be higher than of late too, with 17-18°C for the minima.
Surf and the Water
The surf is currently expected be 2-4 feet on Thursday and 3-5 feet on Friday. Winds too light for windsurfing and kitesurfing in the afternoons, but possibly doable in the mornings. Good swimming conditions on the east coast every day, and occasionally smooth on the other coasts too. Tides will be high in the late mornings (8.2m and 7.6m respectively), and low in towards dinnertime.
The Weekend
Weather
Looking pretty lovely to be honest, with such light and variable breezes, that the plentiful sunshine should raise the daily temperatures to maxima of 24 or perhaps even 25°C. Nightly temps will be on the low side though, with minima of 13-15°C. The equinox only being fifteen days away, so no doubt everyone has observed that the days are shortening and the nights are lengthening with noticeable rapidity now.
Surf and the Water
Currently looking like two days of decent clean surf, with nice slow-moving small tides. 4-5 foot waves shrinking to 3 feet through Saturday, further shrining to 2 feet through Sunday. Great swimming conditions on all coasts. Low water will be at breakfast time. High water will be about 7m at 1pm on Saturday, then 6.8m around 2:45pm on Sunday.
The next forecast update will be on Thursday…
