Saturday
Weather
Sunny skies and a cool N’ly breeze to balance it, flip-flopping between light force 3 and moderate force 4, the south coast always being the most sheltered and unaffected by it. Max temps will be about 22-23°C in most areas, but a solid 24°C or maybe even 25°C in the sheltered hotspots. The UV index is on the cusp of 5 and 6 through lunchtime, so sun protection is required at that time, but the skin can breathe much more pleasantly through most of the rest of the day. Overnight, another good one for spotting shooting stars amidst the unceasing trickle of illuminated human litter. Min temps will be about 15-16°C.
Surf and the Water
1-2 foot surf, with a bit of cross-chop to further degrade it. Maybe a brief moment of goodness around 6-7am, as the tide is in full swing and the overnight stillness lingers a little. High water will be 9.6m at 9:20am and 9.8m at 9:30pm. Low water will be around 3:30pm.
Sunday
Weather
A gentler NE’ly breeze (light force 2-3) will allow daytime temperatures to climb at least a degree higher than on Saturday, in all locations. Skies will be similarly sunny though, so there really isn’t any other difference to speak of. Then in the night time, with similar clarity and lightness of breeze, we will see those same min temps of 15-16°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be cleaner, but regrettably also smaller, possibly even flat for much of the time. As always though, such conditions can be extra special for swimming, kayaking, SUP exploration etc. And the big high tide of the morning (9.4m around 10am), will be superb for those wild souls who love to jump into the deep blue water from our many superb granite platforms. As for low water (around 4:10pm), that will also be great for such activites, but with a much greater degree on exploration required.
Next Week
Weather
Every day will bring the chance of a brief spell of rain, but unfortunately they all look very light, due to the low-pressure systems responsible for these various weather fronts being centred so far away to the north. Obviously we will be grateful for anything we can get, but it really won’t allow us to be any more liberal with our water usage, and it certainly won’t reduce the fire risk, so please continue to extra careful in this respect. Winds will be either W’ly or NW’ly every day. For most of that time it will be light force 3 to moderate force 4, but there’s the odd occasion when it will probably step up to fresh force 5 (most likely on Tuesday and through next weekend)t. And with a mixture of cloudy skies and sunny interludes, the temperature will peak around 23°C every day in Town, but only 21-22°C in most other areas. Overnight minima generally around 17°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will vary between 1 and 3 feet, usually choppy, sometimes very choppy, but cleaner on occasions too, due to brief moments when the onshore wind falls light. Tides will be high in the late mornings Monday to Wednesday, then at lunchtime on Thursday and Friday (reducing from 9m on Monday to 6.7m on Friday). Lows will generally be around dinnertime.
The next forecast update will be on Tuesday…
