The Weekend
Weather
With gentle NNW’ly breezes on Saturday and even lighter NE’ly breezes on Sunday, it looks as though the temperature trend through the weekend will be upwards… Saturday peaking at 22°C and Sunday getting up to 23-24°C. The weather just as dry and sunny throughout. The sunshine generally hazy though, due to the presence of high cirrus cloud, which will also bless us with some particularly lovely sunrises and sunsets.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be virtually flat, but the swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding conditions will be just as fantastic as of late. Tides will be roughly 8.6m high around high mid-morning and dusk. Lows will be in the mid-afternoons.
Monday and Tuesday
Weather
The warmest days of the working week (apologies for calling it that if you are blissfully on holiday right now). The sky will be quite cloudy at times though, because moist Atlantic air will be mixing with hot continental air, creating uplift and the possibility of a thundery shower or two. The greatest chance, although it’s far from guaranteed, being on Monday night and on Tuesday morning. The breeze will go all around the clock but always be light and comfortable… E’ly on Monday morning, NW’ly by Monday evening, S’ly on Tuesday morning and then SW’ly on Tuesday afternoon. The wind detail won’t make a great deal of difference, unless there are some fog banks in the vicinity, because it will always be the windward coasts that run the greatest risk of turning murky. The sheltered sunny sides will always be lovely and warm though… max temp around 27°C on Monday, then 24-25°C on Tuesday.
Surf and the Water
Finally some 2 foot waves to provide some real fun for learner surfers, the mornings being particularly clean and well formed, although the timing of the high tides will force people to get out of bed a little earlier than they might like… 8.5m at 10:15am Monday, 8.3m at 10:50am Tuesday.
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
Very similar to the couple of mostly sunny weeks we’ve just had, with it not being entirely cloudless, and with a close to (but not quite) zero chance of showers. Winds generally being of N’ly origin, so not the hottest, but only blowing very gently (almost flat calm at times), meaning that it will still be comfortably warm, and pretty much perfect for early August. Indeed, if you cast your mind back over a few recent years, then I’m sure you will agree that this year’s school-holiday weather has thus far been very special in comparison. So I hope that it be held in collective memory banks, with similar smiles to a handful of other classics. As for the daily max temperatures at this end of the forecast, probably somewhere between 23 and 26°C, punctuated by nightly minima of 15-18°C.
Surf and the Water
More 2 foot surf to play with. And even more gorgeous swimming, kayaking and paddle-boarding conditions in all areas. Tides will be low around dawn and dinnertime. Highs will be around lunchtime… 8m, 7.6m and 7.3m respectively.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday or Monday…
