Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 26 April 2026

Monday

Weather

A sunny day. Brighter sunshine than on Sunday, when high cloud made the sky very fuzzy and more white than blue. The NE’ly breeze will be slightly stronger though (light force 3, increasing moderate force 4), brining marginally cooler air and also adding a little wind-chill. Max temp around 17°C in the mid-afternoon. Min temp 9°C around midnight. Just one other thing to mention is that some sea-mist will likely be rattling around the Channel, and this could possibly affect the north coast in the late afternoon and evening. It’s only a slim chance, but if it happens then that will drop the temperature in those locations to a very chilly feeling 13°C. For total immunity and relative warmth, the south coast will definitely be the best place to head.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf, but good swimming conditions along the south coast and at the northern ends of the west-coast bays. Tidal movements will be a little bigger than previous days… low water around 11am, then high water (7.6m) around 4pm.

Tuesday

Weather

Sunshine coming and going as shower clouds are scattered across the Channel. The rainfall will be minimal though and most likely all over the sea. The most noticeable change for the Islands will be the chilly air that sweeps in on the fresh force 5 NE’ly wind. Max temps only around 14°C, with the wind-chill making it feel more like 10°C. The UV index will still be 5-6 through late morning and much of the afternoon though, so be sure to look after your skin if you are spending the day outdoors.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf but, once again, good swimming conditions along the south coast and at the northern ends of the west-coast bays. Tidal movements will be a little bigger than previous days… low water around 11:40am, then high water (8.1m) around 5:30pm.

Wednesday and Thursday

Weather

These are the windiest days of the week, with a fresh force 5 ENE’ly, occasionally tickling strong force 6. It will actually be bringing slightly warmer air than on Tuesday though, leading to a max of 15-16°C. However, the enhanced wind-chill effect will mean that it actually feels like the temperature is just as low. Weather-wise, it will be a mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, with thundery showers moving up from Brittany into the mouth of the Channel. I’d say there is something like a 10% chance of them bumping into the Islands, and a 90% chance that we will actually stay dry right through into the month of May.

Surf and the Water

Probably some 2-3 foot waves on Wednesday and some 1-2 footers on Thursday. That said, the strength of the crosswind will spoil it for surfers, so it’s really going to be more of a windsurfing and kitesurfing period. Tidal movements will be a little bigger than previous days… low water around lunchtime, then high water around dinnertime (8.5m and 8.7m respectively).

Friday and the Weekend

Weather

Friday looks like a pretty good day, as the breeze will ease to just light force 3 and swivel round to a relatively warm SE’ly direction. It’s uncertain, with further thundery showers so close by to both the east and the west, how cloudy/sunny it will be, so max temps could be anything from 16-21°C depending on the details. The weekend will probably carry on in similar style, warm air and very light breezes. Probably cloudy in the mornings, sunny in the afternoons and then if we’re going to cop any of those showers (thundery or not) then it’s most likely to be in the night time.

Surf and the Water

Maybe some clean 2-foot waves at times, but certainly nothing more than that, and no decent wind for windsurfing or kitesurfing either. Swimming conditions should be good on most coasts, although large tidal movements will be something to watch out for. Highs around breakfast time and towards dusk (generally around 8.9m).

The next forecast update will be on Tuesday or Wednesday…
