Monday
Weather
Force 5-6 WNW’ly winds will bring sunshine and occasional showers, especially in the morning. Perhaps the odd heavy one, but not likely thundery. Head to Town to feel least cold, where the temperature will peak at around 10°C. Most other areas will only reach 9°C. Then overnight, with only a gradual reduction in the wind, the temperature will only fall to a minimum of around 7°C towards dawn Tuesday.
Surf and the Water
Very messy 8 foot surf, but don’t worry, some good days are on the way. Fermain should be good for a sea swim, and the west and north coasts will be good for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Tides will be high around dawn and dusk (8.4m) and low at lunchtime.
Tuesday
Weather
A cloudier but mostly dry day, with rain not really setting in until the evening rush-hour. That rain will go on to be rather heavy after sunset, but then clear eastwards by midnight. The wind will only be light force 3, NW’ly at dawn, veering NE’ly by dusk, but the air will be rather cold, with a miserly max of just 8°C. Overnight however, the wind will change to a force 4-5 SE’ly, which will stop the temperature from falling as low as it would if it remained calm, so we will probably only fall to a minimum of 6°C.
Surf and the Water
Choppy 6 foot surf at first, becoming increasingly clean through the afternoon. The east coast will be best for swimmers around dawn and then the south coast will become better later. Watch out for the swell and the current around the rocks down there though. Tides will be high around dawn and 7pm (8.8m) and low at lunchtime.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
Low pressure systems will pass across the UK, one over the south coast on Wednesday and Thursday, then another over central England on Friday. Both of them bringing unsettled weather, with some particularly persistent and heavy rain on Wednesday (with likely totals of 15-20mm, maybe as much as 25mm), and then just the odd brief shower on Thursday and Friday. The winds will be about fresh force 5 for the most part, so not crazy strong but enough to feel quite unpleasant. Wednesday will most likely have a SE’ly with a max temp of 8-9°C, Thursday a NE’ly with a max of just 7.8°C and then Friday will be milder with SW’ly winds taking us back into double figures (which at this time of year means that there will be the possibility of some mist or fog patches on that day).
Surf and the Water
The surf will be a super-clean 3 feet on Wednesday Friday, and semi-clean (in some locations) 6 feet on Thursday. Windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions should be good for the majority of the time. Tides will be high at breakfast time (9.3m, 9.5m and 9.4m respectively Wed, Thur, Fri) and low in the early afternoons.
The Weekend
Weather
It’s a long way off but the current expectation is for fresh force 5 SW’ly winds to bring mostly bright or sunny conditions on Saturday, followed by cloudy skies and occasional showers on Sunday. Temperatures holding in the low double figures by day and the high single figures by night.
Surf and the Water
Cleanish surf both days, a little under 6 feet on Saturday and a little over on Sunday. The west and north coast should host good conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing, whilst some east-coast locations host good conditions for swimming. High tides will be around breakfast time (9.3m Sat and 8.9m Sun) and low tides will be in the mid to late afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday or Thursday…
