Guernsey Weather Fox

Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 03 January 2026

Sunday

Weather

Classic crisp winter sunshine in the morning, but then slightly cloudier in the afternoon, with one or two showers of rain or sleet developing. The wind will be force 3-4 N’ly, which isn’t especially strong, but with temperatures climbing no higher than 5-6°C, it will feel pretty bitter in most places. Overnight will then be very cold, with the air temperature possibly falling to zero for the first time this winter, and a widespread hoarfrost developing. This, along with one or two sleet or hail showers, will possibly make for slippery roads and pathways.

Surf and the Water

Zero surf but good swim conditions on the south coast. High tides will be at 7am (9.3m) and 7:30pm (9.1m). Low tide will be at 1:30pm.

Monday

Weather

Lots of showers in the morning (a mix of rain, hail and sleet) but then mainly sunny in the afternoon. Winds will be force 3-4 again, but with the direction gradually changing from a N’ly to a NW’ly. Once again, feeling very cold with the temperature no higher than 4-5°C in the daytime and then falling to around zero in the night time. The air will be slightly drier than on Sunday night, so hoar frost will be confined to patches of grass, but the ground will definitely fall well below zero, so framers and growers should be prepared for this.

Surf and the Water

Zero surf but good swim conditions on the south coast. High tides will be at 7:45am (9.5m) and 8:15pm (9.2m). Low tide will be at 2:15pm.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Weather

Light force 3 NW’ly winds in the morning on Tuesday morning, backing WSW’ly in the afternoon and then increasing force 4-5 overnight into Wednesday. Then on Wednesday morning, as a low-pressure system passes directly overhead, winds will fall light and variable, before returning to a brisk WSW’ly later. These new wind directions will bring milder air than the previous days, so Tuesday should reach a max of 8°C with a decent amount of sunshine and very few (if any) showers. Wednesday will then be much cloudier and wetter but with the temperature remaining in the high single digits. The previously mentioned threat of snow on Tuesday night now looks destined for Central France, but I shall update you if that situation looks threatening again.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf is most likely throughout, but there’s just a slim chance of 1-3 feet on Wednesday afternoon. That said the tide will be low, so there probably won’t be anywhere it can turn that into a rideable wave. Swim conditions will be best in the south and east coasts on Tuesday, but all coasts should be ok at one time or another on Wednesday. High tides will be around breakfast time, 9.1m Tuesday and 8.9m Wednesday. Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.

Thursday and Friday

Weather

Cloudy but mostly dry on Thursday, with SSW’ly winds increasing from light force 2-3 in the morning to fresh force 5 by midnight. Friday then looks set to have strong force 7 W’ly winds, as a severe storm crosses Britain, most likely earning itself a name, on account of the numerous gale, flood and blizzard warnings that will likely warrant warnings over there. For us it will be probably be fairly brutal, but on the warm side of the weather system (relatively warm at least) it will probably just be another fairly standard winter storm. Temperatures likely holding around 11°C by day and 9°C by night.

Surf and the Water

Weak 3-4 foot surf on Thursday, then more powerful 6-8 foot surf on Friday. Good windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions developing through Thursday, but probably too windy even for this on Friday. High tides will be mid-morning, 8.9m Thursday and 8.4m Friday. Low tides will be around dusk.

The next forecast update will most likely be on Tuesday morning…
