Seasonal Castle Keeper

The States of Guernsey are looking to appoint a Seasonal Castle Keeper to join the Team in Policy and Resources. The Castle Keeper is expected to work as a part of a team with other manual and administrative staff, and will maintain a cheerful courteous manner to all, including visitors. The post holder plays an important part in the presentation and security of Castle Cornet. The Castle Keeper ensures that the Castle grounds and gardens are maintained to the highest possible standards, including the removal of litter, painting accessible timber and iron work as required and various gardening tasks. Similar work at other historic sites managed by States Property Unit may also be required on an occasional basis. The Castle Keeper may also prepare and fire the noonday gun and other salutes. This position is on a casual basis and does not guarantee any hours. However, it is anticipated there will be between 16-24hrs available per week during the Castle public opening season including at least one day at weekends. Additional days, events and occasional off-season work may also be available. No Permit is offered with this position and you must be living and/or working in Guernsey to apply for this position.
