The primary purpose of this role is to provide high‑quality operational support for a wide range of Group software applications used across the business, acting as the final line of internal support for line‑of‑business systems. Day to day, the role involves reviewing, replicating, and performing detailed troubleshooting of application issues to deliver timely and effective resolutions.
In addition to BAU support, the role contributes to group‑wide IT initiatives, including system maintenance activities, upgrades, new features, and new implementations, as well as system and database administration. The IT Business Systems Analyst is responsible for the successful technical delivery of these activities, working across the full application lifecycle from requirements gathering and solution selection, through supplier engagement, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
While maintaining system stability remains the priority, the role also encourages a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement, enhancements, and integrations using existing and emerging technologies that add value to the firm.
Provide day‑to‑day (BAU) operational support for business applications, ensuring systems remain stable, secure, and fit for purpose
Monitor, maintain, and support applications through effective configuration management and routine maintenance activities
Investigate, diagnose, and resolve application incidents and issues, working with internal IT teams and third‑party vendors as required
Manage and support application changes, including configuration updates, fixes, and minor enhancements, in line with change control processes
Engage with business users to understand operational issues and system usage, providing practical solutions and guidance
Support testing activities related to system changes, fixes, and maintenance work, including coordination of user acceptance testing where required
Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date system documentation, including configurations, processes, and support procedures
Support data quality, reporting accuracy, and day‑to‑day operation of system integrations
Experience supporting and maintaining business applications in an operational or BAU environment
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues and identify root causes
Experience working with incident, problem, and change processes in an IT support or operations context
Ability to engage confidently with business users to understand issues and explain technical concepts clearly
Experience working with third‑party vendors to support and maintain applications
Strong documentation skills, with experience producing and maintaining system and support documentation
Good understanding of the importance of system stability, data integrity, and controlled change
