We are excited to be able to offer this role within the multi-disciplinary Office of Environmental Health and Pollution Regulation (OEHPR) team of the States of Guernsey. The OEHPR is a small but busy team who deals with a broad range of matters affecting the physical environment and public health within the Bailiwick. The Waste Regulation Officer will be responsible for regulating the waste industry, ensuring sites and operators remain in full compliance with their environmental licences and that enforcement action is taken, as necessary and proportionate, against those that fail to comply. This role is suited to candidates that have experience of Environmental Permitting, contaminated land management, auditing sites against licence / permit conditions and investigations of nuisance from commercial premises. Experience of regulating or working within the waste industry would be beneficial. Consideration will be given to candidates who have not directly undertaken all of the key criteria but have experience in similar areas with transferable skills and a desire to expand their competencies. For this role you must be a good communicator and team player. You will also need to be able to work confidently on your own, showing initiative, self-motivation and commitment.
