Our highly successful Jersey legal trainee scheme offers a structured two-year training contract, allowing you to rotate through different practice areas (“seats”) for three, six, or nine months. This hands-on experience covers both contentious and non-contentious work, giving you the opportunity to collaborate with experienced lawyers on complex, high-profile matters.
You’ll receive regular feedback and a formal review at the end of each seat, enabling you to reflect on your development and track your progress using our interactive learning management platform.
We offer flexible pathways to qualification, tailored to individual circumstances:
‘Learn then earn’ pathway
- Study for SQE 1 and SQE 2 full time over one year after accepting an offer, then begin the 24 month rotational training contract at Ogier from 1 September 2027
‘Earn while you learn’ pathway
- Complete SQE 1 and/or SQE 2 alongside your training contract. This route is only available to candidates with 12+ months’ paralegal experience at Ogier or a comparable firm
For candidates yet to begin the SQE, we offer some financial support towards preparation course fees and SRA exam costs. We welcome applications from final year undergraduates, graduates already studying or about to start the SQE, as well as candidates who have recently completed the SQE and are looking to complete their Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) through our trainee solicitor programme.
Essential requirements:
- On track for, or already hold, a minimum 2:1 degree (non-law graduates welcome, but must be committed to a legal career)
- AAB grades at A-Level (or equivalent UCAS points)
- Have passed both SQE 1 and 2 examinations (if already completed)
If your application stands out, you’ll be invited to interview either in person or via video call with our trainee supervisors and Training Principal. Our process is simple, transparent, and straightforward.
Successful candidates will receive an offer and confirmed start date, which, where applicable, will be conditional upon passing both SQE 1 and 2.
