Compliance, Risk Our client is seeking a dynamic Data Protection Officer & Risk Manager to join their distinguished specialist banking team. This pivotal role combines expert knowledge of data protection laws—especially the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)—with comprehensive risk management strategies. The successful candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for all data protection matters, ensuring legislative compliance and fostering a culture of awareness throughout the organisation. Monitor and ensure compliance with data protection laws, including GDPR and local regulations. Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines. Establish a comprehensive data governance framework aligned with overarching governance protocols. Assess and approve Data Protection Impact Assessments to identify and mitigate risks. Advise on data protection-related risk management strategies. Develop and deliver training programmes to enhance staff understanding of data protection principles. Manage and respond to Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs) effectively. Oversee procedures for reporting and managing data breaches and conduct relevant investigations. Engage and collaborate with data protection authorities, clients, and internal stakeholders. Maintain records and prepare regular reports for senior management regarding compliance issues. Assess and recommend technology solutions that enhance data protection within the organisation. Support the identification and mitigation of financial, operational, and reputational risks.

Job Requirements:

Qualified to a minimum of Foundation and Practitioner GDPR level. Extensive experience (typically 5+ years) in data protection, compliance, or legal roles within the financial services sector. Proven track record of managing data protection compliance and implementing frameworks. Demonstrated ability in designing and executing risk mitigation strategies. Strong knowledge of data protection laws and regulations, particularly GDPR. Familiarity with data protection technologies and security best practices. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across various organisational levels. High ethical standards and integrity in managing sensitive information.
